Formerly known as Torfaen Puffins Asthmatic Swimming Club, Torfaen Puffins was founded in 1985 with the

support of The Asthma Society and Friends Of The Asthma Research Council, now known as Asthma and Lung UK.

Originally founded to provide swimming therapy for children with respiratory conditions, Torfaen Puffins has evolved over the years into a highly acclaimed and widely renowned swim school and swimming club for all children.

                                                                                                                   

Torfaen Puffins has won many accolades and awards, including

• Torfaen Borough Council Coach of the Year

 

• Welsh Sports Council Coach of the Year

• Welsh Woman of the Year Award

• M.B.E. Services to Swimming in Torfaen

We have close links with local competitive swimming clubs, and swimmers who show the necessary interest and potential, are identified and developed accordingly.                                 

                                                                                                 

Many Torfaen Puffins swimmers have gone on to compete for the Torfaen County Swimming Squad, to represent Wales and to compete in Olympic trials.

 

Many others have gone on to become professional lifeguards, professional swimming teachers and professional swimming coaches.

Torfaen Puffins generates its own staff and all Torfaen Puffins staff are former Torfaen Puffins swimmers.
